Ben is a real estate investor operating predominantly in the suburbs of
Chicago, IL and Tampa, FL. His primary strategy is to fix-and-rent residential properties in working class neighborhoods, including condos, single family homes, and apartment buildings. He has been a landlord since 2005 and left his neurosurgery sales position at the end of 2013 to pursue his passion full-time.
Ben typically purchases properties using financing from a combination of hard money and private lenders, then works with community banks and securitized commercial lenders to refinance into a lower rate.
He has been interviewed by CNBC and the Chicago Tribune, and he has been a featured guest on the Bigger Pockets Podcast, the Freedom Real Estate Investing Podcast, the Best Ever Real Estate Podcast, and Target Market Insights with John Casmon.
He is the former President of the Chicago Area REIA, the largest non-profit REIA in the state of IL, President of Apex Renovations Inc, and Founder of Apex Landlord Services, LLC.
Ben currently lives in Cedar Rapids, IA with his wife and 4 young children. He enjoys water skiing, motorcycle racing, and traveling with his family.

Whether you own 200 units or have no real estate experience, anyone who has an interest in real estate investing is invited to attend our General Meeting. Each month a different speaker will share information on topics relating to the many aspects of investing in real estate and being a landlord. Our General Meetings provide a great opportunity to network with experienced real estate investors from all over the Chicago land area. We also have an extensive real estate library for our members to use. The General Meeting is held on the 2nd Monday of each month.
