Ben Walhood has been investing in real estate since 2005, when he house-hacked his first home, putting nothing down and renting the extra rooms to his friends - living for free in a brand new home, while still attending college full-time.
At the end of 2013, Ben left his neurosurgery sales position to pursue his real estate passion full-time. His primary strategy is to fix-and-rent residential properties in working class neighborhoods, including condos, single family homes, and apartment buildings, primarily in the western suburbs of Chicago. In addition to a rental portfolio of several dozen units, he likes to occasionally fix-and-flip in those same markets.
He has been interviewed by CNBC and the Chicago Tribune, and he has been a featured guest on a variety of real estate podcasts including Bigger Pockets (Episode 177).
Outside of real estate, Ben enjoys traveling the country and the world with his wife and four young children, as well as both water and downhill skiing.

A Member's & Non-Member's Event
Whether you own 200 units or have no real estate experience, anyone who has an interest in real estate investing is invited to attend our General Meeting. Each month a different speaker will share information on topics relating to the many aspects of investing in real estate and being a landlord. Our General Meetings provide a great opportunity to network with experienced real estate investors from all over the Chicago land area. We also have an extensive real estate library for our members to use. The General Meeting is held on the 2nd Monday of each month.
